Solar flare activity was very low all week.

Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian region was quiet at most locations on 16th, with isolated active periods at high latitudes. Activity was quiet on 17th, 18th and 20th; and quiet to unsettled on 19th, 21st and 22nd.

Southern Australian ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted on 16th to 19th; near predicted to 20 per cent enhanced on 20th; near predicted to 25 per cent enhanced on 21st; and near predicted to 15 per cent enhanced on 22nd.

Forecast for 23rd to 29th April

Solar activity should be low.

Geomagnetic activity should see quiet to unsettled conditions.

Maximum usable frequencies should be near predicted monthly values.

ARLD016 DX news for 22nd April 2010

TUNISIA, 3V. A group of operators will be QRV as TS8P and TS8P/p
from Djerba, IOTA AF-083, from April 27 to May 4. This includes a
stop at Kuriat Island, IOTA AF-092. Activity will be on all HF
bands, including 6 meters, using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via
IK7JWY.

GHANA, 9G. Station 9G1AA has been QRV on 15 meters around 1600 to
1800z. QSL via PA3ERA.

BURUNDI, 9U. Paul, 9U1P has been active on 15 meters using PSK31
around 0700z. QSL via ON4LN.

BHUTAN, A5. Steve, W7VOA is QRV as A52SW from Thimphu until May 1.
Activity is on 80 to 10 meters using CW and SSB. He is here on
business and is active in his spare time. QSL via K2AU.

GERMANY, DA. A group of operators will be QRV as DK0ZAB/p from the
Nature Reserve/Biosphere "Flusslandschaft Elbe" on April 24 and 25.
Activity will be on all HF bands using CW and SSB near the regular
"World Flora and Fauna" frequencies. QSL via DK0ZAB.

IRAN, EP. Mohammad, EP4MRG has been active on 20 meters using SSB
around 1600z. QSL to home call.

SCOTLAND, GM. Operators MM0GHM, MM0GOR and M0UTD will be QRV as
GM6TW/p from the Isle of Eigg, IOTA EU-008, from April 24 to 27.
QSL to G0UZP.

ITALY, I. Patrizio, I0KHP will be QRV during International Marconi
Day from the Villa dei Principi in the Civitavecchia in Rome. QSL
to home call.

MARIANA ISLANDS, KH0. Kazuhiko, JH0MGJ will be QRV as AL5A/WHO from
Saipan, IOTA OC-086, from April 24 to 26. Activity will be on 80 to
10 meters using CW and SSB. QSL to home call.

AUSTRIA, OE. Amateur radio operators from the amateur radio section
of the Austrian Broadcasting and the Documentary Archive Radio
Communications are QRV as OE10M until April 25. This includes being
active during International Marconi Day. QSL via bureau.

MOUNT ATHOS, SV/A. Monk Apollo, SV2ASP/A has been active on 20
meters using RTTY around 1800 to 2000z. QSL direct.

POLAND, SP. Piotr, SP2QCW is QRV as HF2010WECK until June 30 to
celebrate the "World Enduro Championship" in Kwidzyn. Activity is
on all bands and modes. QSL to home call.

PALAU, T8. Kazumasa, JA4CZM will be QRV as T88NY from April 27 to
29. Activity will be on all bands. QSL to home call.

TURKEY, TA. A group of operators are QRV as special event station
TC57A until April 25 to commemorate the 57th Regiment Martyrs in the
Canakkale War. Activity is on all bands using CW, SSB and PSK. QSL
via TA1HZ.

UKRAINE, UR. To remember the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, operators
UY2RY and UT7RW are QRV as special event station EN5R from Redkovka
until April 27. QSL via UY2RA.

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, V2. Randy, WD8MGZ will be QRV as V25WV from
Barbuda, IOTA NA-100, from April 24 to May 1. QSL to home call.

VENEZUELA, YV. In celebration of Venezuela's 200 years of
independence, special event stations 4M200AJ, YV200D, YW200A,
YW200ER, YW200L and YW200T are QRV until December 31. QSL via
operators' instructions.

CHATHAM ISLANDS, ZL7. Kaz, JH1HRJ will be QRV as ZL7J from April 27
to May 3. Activity will be on 160 to 10 meters using CW and SSB.

The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 956 - excerpts

4U10, AUSTRIA (Special Event)
The Vienna International Amateur Radio Club (4U1VIC) will activate special event
callsign 4U10NPT between May 1-31st. Activity is to promote the "2010 Review
Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons" (NPT). QSL
via OE1ZKC. For DXCC or other award purposes, it shall be counted as the same as

9H, MALTA
Russell, G5XW, is to be active as 9H3XW from Malta (IOTA EU-023, MIA MM-001,
WLOTA LH-1113) between June 12-19th. Activity will be on the HF bands using SSB

9M8, WEST MALAYSIA (IOTA Op)
Look for Mirek,
VK6DXI, to be active as 9M8DX/2 from Kuala Lumpur between 26-29th, and then from Tioman Island (AS-046) between April 24-26th. Activity will be focused on 30/17/12 meters CW. QSL via SP5UAF, by the Bureau or direct.

AO, SPAIN (Special Event - Europe Day)
Look for special event stations AO1EU, AO2EU, AO3EU, AO4EU, AO5EU, AO6EU, AO7EU,
AO8EU, and AO0EU to be active from May 1-20th. Activity is to celebrate the 60th
anniversary of Robert Schuman proposal (on May 9, 1950) for the creation of an
organized Europe, under peace and harmony. In addition, this year coincides with
the Spanish Presidency of the EU. The EA Digital Federation, a member of the
European Organization for Amateur Radio (EURAO), wants to help to contribute in
the spreading of this common area of coexistence called Europe. All contacts

EF8, CANARY ISLANDS
Val, RD3AF, will be active as EF8M from Santa Maria de Guia, Las Palmas Gran
Canaria (AF-004, DIE S-005, WLOTA L 0969), during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May
29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/ High-Power entry. QSL via UA3DX.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN (QRP Op!)
Alberto, IW1PRT, will be active as HB0/IW1PRT/QRP between April 30th and May
1st. He usually operates on 160-10 meters including 30/17/12 meters. QSL via his
Manager IZ1MKR by EURAO Bureau.

HF2010, POLAND (Special Event)
Piotr, SP2QCW, is now active as HF2010WECK (prefix first time used) until June
30th. Activity is to celebrate the "World Enduro Championship in Kwidzyn (June
2010)". Operations will be on all bands and all modes. QSNs show activity this
past weekend was on 30/20/17 meters using RTTY and PSK. QSL via SP2QCW (See info

IOTA NEWS

AS-008. Members of the Tokyo Dental College will be active as JA1YUC/1 from Nii
Island between May 1­4th. Activity will be on all bands and modes. Operators
mentioned are: Kanichi/JE1SCF, JG4IQC and JF1QQR. QSL via JA1YUC, by the Bureau
is preferred.

EU-114. Kevan, 2E0WMG, will be active as 2U0WMG/P from Herm Island, Guernsey,
between June 1-17th. Activity will be on 80/40/20/ 17/15 meters SSB. Herm is
quite interesting as there are no less than four WAB squares on the Island
(North East WV48, North West WV38, South East WV47 and South West WV37). Kevan
like everyone who visits this island, may have restrictions as to where he can
operate from but is hoping to try and activate all the WAB areas on the island.
This trip is ahead of a possible larger scale trip next year with a few

EU-120. Kevan, 2E0WMG, will be active from Lundy Island between June 5-8th.
Activity will be on 80/40/20/17/15 meters SSB. QSL via his home callsign 2E0WMG.

EU-129. Helmut, DL7VOX, will be active as DL7VOX/p from Usedom Island (GIA O-13)
and its lighthouse (Admiralty C2867.1, ARLHS FED-359, WLOTA LH-1640) between
April 22nd and May 11th. Activity will be mainly CW on the HF bands, using 100
watts and wire antennas. QSL via DL7VOX, direct or by the Bureau.

EU-141. Operators Helmut/DL5DSM and Bernhard/DL9UBF will be active as
LA/homecall from Vardo Island (WLOTA LH-0106) between May 5-10th. Activity will
be on the HF bands using SSB, 100 watts and vertical antennas. QSL via their
home callsigns, direct or by the Bureau.

EU-172. A group of the Belgian UBA Section Diest operators will be active from
Langeland Island, Denmark, between May 12-18th. Activity will be on all HF
bands. QSL via ON4AMM. Operators mentioned are: Dominic/ON4AZP, Michel/ON4CAQ,
Francois/ON6VP, Herman/ON7FH and Maurice/ON7KS.

SA-023. If you worked PY6RT/p this past weekend, the operations were from
Itaparica Island. QSL via the home callsign.

PACIFIC ODYSSEY 2010 TOUR (Update)
Members of the Ukrainian DXpeditioners Team (UDXT) have announced their new
project "PACIFIC ODYSSEY 2010" to take place between mid-May and early June.
Alex, UT5UY, informs OPDX that "preparations for the forthcoming Pacific Odyssey
DXpedition are going fine." The UDXT members include the following: Sergey/UX0HX
(Team Leader), Oleg/RK3FA, Alex/UT5UY, Yuriy/UT1HF, Oleg/US7UX, Leo/UR3HR and
Yuriy Grushevskiy/SWL. Activity will take place from the following islands on
all bands and modes as:
Samoa (5W) - Between May 18-19th; callsign 5W0OX; Reference numbers are: CQ­32,
ITU­62 and IOTA OC­097.
Central Kiribati (T31) - Between May 22nd and June 1st; callsigns are T31X and
T31UR; Reference numbers are: CQ­31, ITU­62 and IOTA OC­043.
Tokelau (ZK3) - Between June 2-6th; callsign ZK3X; Reference numbers are: CQ­31,
ITU­62 and IOTA OC­048.

S7, SEYCHELLES (IOTA Op!)
Vlad, RA9LR, will be active as S79LR from Desroches Island (AF-033) between May
1-7th, and from Mahe Island (AF-024) between May 8-10th. Activity will be mainly
on the low bands using 100 watts into DX-88 vertical, operating CW, RTTY, PSK63
and some SSB. He plans to possibly be in the ARI International DX Contest (May
1-2nd), Alessandro Volta RTTY DX Contest (May 8-9th) and CQ-M International DX
Contest (May 8-9th). Listen for operator to announce QSL route.

T8, PALAU (OC-009)
Mike, KM9D (ex-V63MY), has received the callsign T88CF for operating. No
activity has been reported yet. Length of stay is unknown. QSL via OM2SA.

V2, ANTIGUA
Leslie, W2LPL, will be active as V26LPL between April 26-30th. Activity will be
on 20 meters using 100 watts. He states, "Rig is a FT-857 using a vertical
antenna as I watch the waves crashing on the beach." QSL via W2LPL.

YI, IRAQ
The YI9PSE is now QRT with a total of 50401 QSOs with 19396 unique callsigns in
the log. They made 22763/SSB, 24181/CW and 3457/RTTY QSOs. QSL via N6NKT. For

ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS
Sam, W5CU, will be active as ZF2CU between May 1-8th. Activity will be on
40/30/20 meters using mostly CW. QSL via his home callsign.

ZS, SOUTH AFRICA
Bernie, ZS4TX, will be active as ZS9X during the CQWW WPX CW Contest (May
29-30th as a Single-Op/Single-Band (??) entry. QSL via LoTW.

ZS8M, MARION ISLAND (Update)
By the time you read this Pierre, ZS1HF, will be on Marion Island (AF-021). The
supply ship's ("SA Agulha") is located here:

Please remember that Pierre will not be active for a few weeks as ZS8M (not
until the ship leaves for Cape Town -- He states, "I hope to be established &
operational by the 5th of May). Pierre will be on the island for one year and
activity will be mainly SSB and Digital (He states, "Sorry, no CW".). A Web page
is now online, but is still under construction. Pierre told OPDX a few weeks ago

UPDATE: Pierre, ZS1HF/ZS8M, reports (edited): "I arrived on Marion Island on
April 15th, but will be operating as ZS1HF/P until the ship leaves for Cape
Town. I have too much work to complete in the field before the ship leaves and
operating ZS8M just places too much pressure on me. I will try and monitor
14.240 during the day, if and when I am in the base. Keep watching this site
