IPS weekly solar and geophysical report for 29th January to 4th February, issued on 5th February by IPS Radio and Space Services.

Solar flare activity was very low all week.
Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian region was quiet and quiet to unsettled at high latitudes on 29th; quiet to unsettled and with isolated active levels at high latitudes on 30th and 31st; quiet to unsettled on 1st to 3rd; and quiet on 4th.
Southern Australian ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted to 20 per cent depressed on 29th and 31st; near predicted to 15 per cent depressed on 30th; near predicted on 1st, 3rd and 4th; and mostly near predicted on 2nd. Spread F and Sporadic E were reported during the period 29th to 31st.
Forecast for 5th to 11th February
Solar activity should be low.
Geomagnetic activity should see quiet to unsettled conditions.
Maximum usable frequencies should be near predicted monthly values.

ARLD005 DX news for 4th February 2010
UGANDA, 5X. Jack, NP2OR is QRV as 5X7JD from Masaka until May 25.
He is active on 40 and 20 meters using SSB every day from 0500 to
1550z. QSL to home call.
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, A6. Special event station A60ISG is QRV until
February 13 to commemorate the 4th International Scouting Gathering
in Sharjah. QSL via IZ8CLM.
NAURU, C2. Dieter, DJ2EH and Anneli, DL8NBH are QRV as C21DL and
C21YL, respectively, until February 14. Activity is on 160 to 6
meters using CW and SSB. They will also operate using RTTY with
callsign C21YL. QSL to home calls.
BAHAMAS, C6. Randy, W6SJ is QRV as C6AWS from Grand Bahama Island
until February 10. Activity is holiday style on the HF bands using
CW. QSL to home call.
TEMOTU PROVINCE, H40. Siegfried, DK9FN, Hans, DG1FK and Bernhard,
DL2GAC will be QRV as H40FN, H40FK and H40MS, respectively, from
Ngarando Reef, Swallow Island, IOTA OC-065, from February 6 to 19.
Activity will be on 160 to 6 meters using CW, digital modes and SSB,
respectively. QSL H40MS and H40FK to home calls and H40FN via
HA8FW.
ECUADOR, HC. Rick, NE8Z will be QRV as HC1MD from Tumbaco,
Pichincha Province, HC1MD/HC1 from Mt. Pichincha and HC1MD/HC4 from
Punta Blanca, Manabi Province from February 8 to 24. Activity will
be on 80 to 10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31. QSL via K8LJG.
OGASAWARA ISLAND, JD1. Operators JM1YGG/JD1, JA2ZL/JD1, JD1BMV and
JD1BNB will be QRV as Chichijima Island, IOTA AS-031, from February
6 to 14. Activity will be on 80 to 12 meters using CW, SSB and
RTTY. QSL JM1YGG/JD1 and JA2ZL/JD1 to home calls, JD1BMV via JK1EBA
and JD1BNB via JA3MCA.
HAWAII, KH6. Claire, WL7MY and John, KL7JR are QRV using special
call sign N7I from Honolulu, IOTA OC-019, until February 10 in
commemoration of the birth of the US Islands Award Program 16 years
ago. Activity is on 20 and 10 meters using SSB. QSL via KL7JR.
BONAIRE, CURACAO, PJ2. Goose, W8AV will be QRV as PJ2/home call
from Curacao, IOTA SA-006, from February 9 to 22. Activity will be
on 160 to 10 meters using CW and RTTY. This includes a possible
entry in the upcoming CQ WPX RTTY contest. QSL via operator's
instructions.
PALAU, T8. Mike, JA6EGL and Hiro, JA6KYU will be QRV as T88SM and
T88HS, respectively, from Koror Island, IOTA OC-009, from February
10 to 16. Activity will be on 80 to 10 meters using CW and SSB.

BRUNEI, V8. Kanzi, JA4ENL is QRV as V85NL until February 8.
Activity is on several HF bands, including 160 meters. QSL via
operator's instructions.
CAMBODIA, XU. John, 9M6XRO is QRV as XU7XRO from Sihanoukville
until February 9. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB and
RTTY. QSL via M0URX.
ZIMBABWE. Z2. Mirek, VK6DXI is QRV as Z21DXI from Bulawayo until
February 13. Activity is in his spare time. QSL via SP5UAF.

6V7, SENEGAL (Correction)
Luc, F5RAV, will be active from La Somone between February 18th and March 1st.
He will operate from Jean-Francois, 6W7RV, QTH as 6V7T (not 6W7RV as mentioned

8Q, MALDIVES
Joerg, OE6VHF, will be active as 8Q7JK from Thulhagiri Island (AS-013), North
Male Atoll, Maldives, between February 23rd and March 5th. Activity will be on
40-10 meters using mostly SSB (on 40/17m) since previous DXpeditions have been
on CW. He will be using dipoles for antennas. QSL via his home callsign. QSLs
will be sent out via GlobalQSL.
9U, BURUNDI
Operators Helmut/DL3KBQ (9UXEV), Henry/DL2RSI (9U1RSI), Peter/DH2KI (9U1KI) and
Jurgen/DJ2VO (9U1VO) will be active between February 22nd and March 6th.
Activity will be on CW, SSB and the Digital modes using only 100 watts into
vertical antennas. QSL via their home callsign, by the DARC Bureau or direct.
BX5, TAIWAN
Jimmy, BX5AA, will be active during the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 6-7th) as a
Single-Op/Single-Band (20m)/High-Power entry. He will also be active in the CQWW
WPX SSB Contest (March 27-28th) as a Single- Op/All-Band/High-Power entry. Jimmy

C6, THE BAHAMAS
Randy, W6SJ, will once again head to Grand Bahama Island in February. He expects
to be on the air as C6AWS between February 5-10th. Activity will be holiday

CE_ssh, CHILE
Once again the XR9JA activity from Greenwich Island, South Shetlands (AN-010) has been postponed owing to a change in the Chilean Navy ship schedule. HC, ECUADOR
Dr. Rick, NE8Z, tells OPDX that he will once again be heading south to Ecuador
and plans to be active between February 8-24th, with the following callsigns

NA-167. Yahir, XE2JA, and possibly others will activate Alcatraz Island in the
Sonora State North Group between February 11-14th. The planned callsign will be
XE2JA/XF1. Activity will be on 80-15 meters using SSB, RTTY and the Satellites.

J6, ST. LUCIA (NA-108)
Just a reminder that 9 operators from the "Buddies in the Caribbean" DX
association which specialized in "ultralite" DXpeditions with 100 watts or
less power, will be active as J6/homecall between February 2-11th. Operators
mentioned are: Budd/W3FF, Chris/W6HFP, Scott/NE1RD, Dan/WZ1P, Guy/N7UN,
Steve/WG0AT, Mike/KC4VG, Paul/KB9AVO and Wey/K8EAB. The operators will use three

J7, DOMINICA (NA-101)
John, K3TEJ, will once again be active as J7N between February 24th and March
11th. Activity will be on all bands mainly using CW and RTTY. He plans to
participate in the CQ 160m SSB Contest (February 26-28th) and also the ARRL
International DX SSB Contest (March 6-7th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL

JT, MONGOLIA
OPDX was informed that YL Munkhmend "Mend", JT1JC, is active on RTTY and PSK31.
She is the XYL of Gankhuyag, JT1CJ. Watch 20 meters on PSK between 2245-0030z or

KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS
Art, KZ5D, will be active as KP2/KZ5D between February 2-9th. His activity will
be focused on the lower bands. QSL route TBA.
OA4, PERU
Fred, DL1NL, currently active as OA4/DL1NL from Lima, will be leaving Peru in
the middle of February. Activity is mostly CW and Fred operates from Radio Club
Peruano (OA4O) when time permits. His recent activity shows he can be found on
20/17/15 meters between 1530-1730z. QSL via his home callsign.
PA75, THE NETHERLANDS (Special Event)
Fred, PA0FAW (PA-11092), will activate special event station PA75HV between
February 1-28th. Activity is to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the National
Park "De Hoge Veluwe". He states that he will not actually transmit from the
park but will activate this callsign probably 3 times this year from his QTH.
QSLs are "OK" direct, by the Bureau and E-qsl; NO LoTW.
PJ4, NETHERLANDS ANTILLES
Roger, N4RR, will be in Bonaire (SA-006, WLOTA LH-1279) between February
10-15th. He plans to operate in the CQWW WPX RTTY Contest (February 13-14th) as
a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. He will be signing PJ4R during the contest
and PJ4/N4RR before the contest operating on all bands on RTTY and CW. QSL to
his home callsign N4RR.
VK, AUSTRALIA
Bill, VK4FW will operate mostly CW as VK8MM from Groote Eylandt (OC-141) on 14-20 February. After that, he will be active for a few days from his daughter's home in Nhullunbuy (mainland Australia). QSL via VK4FW. [TNX QRZ-DX]
XU7, CAMBODIA
John, 9M6XRO, informs OPDX that he will once again be active as XU7XRO from
Sihanouk Ville (Kompong Som) between February 3-9th. Activity will be on 160-10
meters using CW, RTTY and SSB, with a beam at 22m for HF and Inverted-Vees on
the same tower for the lower bands. QSL "ONLY" via M0URX, please. Bureau cards
