IPS Weekly Solar and Geophysical Report for 30th October to 5th November, issued on 6th November by IPS Radio and Space Services.

Solar flare activity was low on 31st, and very low over the rest of the period.
Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian region was quiet to unsettled on 30th and 1st; quiet on 31st and 3rd to 5th; and quiet to unsettled on 2nd with isolated active periods at high latitudes.
Southern Australian ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted on 30th to 1st; near predicted to 15 per cent depressed on 2nd; depressed 25 per cent to 40 per cent enhanced on 3rd; depressed 25 per cent to 30 per cent enhanced on 4th; and near predicted to 25 per cent depressed on 5th.
Forecast for 6th to 12th November.
Solar activity should be low.
Geomagnetic activity should be quiet; and quiet to unsettled with isolated active periods possible on 6th and 7th.
Maximum usable frequencies should be near predicted monthly values to 30 per cent depressed at times.

ARLD044 DX news for 5th November 2009
SENEGAL, 6W. Stan, EI6DX will be QRV as 6W/home call from Somone from November 7 to 16. Activity will be on the low HF bands using CW. This includes being an entry in the upcoming Japan DX contest. QSL via RX3RC.
EAST MALAYSIA, 9M6. Steve, 9M6DXX and John, 9M6XRO are QRV as home calls/p from Pulau Labuan, IOTA OC-133, until November 9. Activity is on 80 to 10 meters using SSB, and 160 to 10 meters using CW and RTTY, respectively. QSL via bureau.
EASTER ISLAND, CE0. A group of operators are QRV as XR0Y from Rapa Nui until November 15. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via operators' instructions.
LIBERIA, EL. Chris, ZS6RI plans to be QRV as EL8RI for about one to two months. Activity will be mainly on 40, 30 and 20 meters running QRP power. QSL to home call.
FRANCE, F. Members of the Havre Radio Club are QRV using special event call TM1TJV until November 8 to celebrate the departure of some 30 trans-Atlantic sailing ships during the ''Transat Jacques Vabre 2009'' race between Le Havre, France and Costa-Rica's Caribbean coast. QSL via bureau.
CHESTERFIELD ISLAND, FK. Tomi, HA7RY and George, AA7JV are QRV as TX3A until December 6. Activity is on all HF bands with an emphasis on the low bands. QSL via HA7RY.
ISLE OF MAN, GD. Operators Ron, PA3EWP and Tom, GM4FDM will be QRV as MD/PA3EWP and GD4FDM, respectively, from November 7 to 9. Activity will be on all HF bands. QSL MD/PA3EWP via PA7FM and GD4FDM via GM4FDM.
LIECHTENSTEIN, HB0. Operators Kazik, DL2SBY, Tomi, HA4DX and Laci, HA0HW are QRV as HB0/home calls from Masessa until November 13. Activity is on the HF bands using mostly CW with some SSB. QSL to home calls.
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, HC8. Mike, DF8AN is QRV as HC8/home call until November 7. Activity is on the HF bands using mostly CW. QSL direct to home call.
THAILAND, HS. Thailand's National Telecommunications Commission has approved a request by the Radio Amateur Society of Thailand to expand 40 meters. Effective November 6, E2 and HS stations will have primary use of 7.0 to 7.2 MHz.
ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON, FP. Eric, KV1J and Tom, W8TOM will be QRV as FP/home calls from Miquelon, IOTA NA-032, from November 7 to 15. Activity will be on 160 to 6 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK. QSL to home calls.
US VIRGIN ISLANDS, KP2. David, N3XF, Ed, K1ZE and Rob, W1EQ are QRV as KP2/home calls until November 11. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. This includes being active as KP2M in the ARRL CW Sweepstakes. QSL KP2M direct and all others to home calls.
DENMARK, OZ. A group of operators are QRV as 5P3WW from Moen Island, IOTA EU-171, until November 9. QSL via DL1YAW.
BONAIRE, CURACAO, PJ2. After his Galapagos operation, Mike, DF8AN will be QRV as PJ4/home call from Bonaire, IOTA SA-006, from November 7 to 16. Activity will be on all bands using mostly CW. QSL direct to home call.
BRAZIL, PY. Special event callsign PW2SIDC is QRV until November 22 from several Brazilian states, including Fernando de Noronha, to mark an international conference for civil defense to be held in Sao Paulo. QSL via PS7YL.
WEST KIRIBATI, T30. David, N1EMC and Mike, N1IW will be QRV as T30KI and T30IW, respectively, from Abatao Islet, IOTA OC-017, on the Tarawa atoll from November 10 to 16. Activity will be on 60 to 6 meters using CW and SSB. QSL both calls via N1EMC.
UKRAINE, UR. Operators Alex, UR7IRK, Vladimir, US5ID, Valery, UU1JN, Anatol, UU5JA, Elena, UV5ESZ and Roman, UY7IQ are QRV as home calls/p from Crimea on Karaby Mountain until November 9. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters. This includes being active as UU5JZA in the Ukrainian DX contest. QSL UU5JZA via UY7IQ and all others to home calls.
SERBIA, YT. Operators HA7JJS, HA6NL, HA7PL and HA6PS are QRV as YU9JJS, YU9NL, YU9PL and YU9PS, respectively, until November 8. They will also be active as YT36QRP for the annual HA QRP 80-Meter contest. QSL YT36QRP via YU7CM and all others to home calls.
VENEZUELA, YV. Members of the Caracas DX Group are QRV as YW5F from Farallon Centinela Island, IOTA SA-058, until November 9 as part of their 20th anniversary. Activity is on 80 to 2 meters using CW, SSB, FM and various digital modes. QSL via W4SO.
OPERATIONS APPROVED FOR DXCC CREDIT. The following operations are approved for DXCC credit: Chagos Island, VQ9JC, current operation. This operation was previously rejected as a shipboard operation. DXCC exchanged correspondence with the operator and determined that this operation was actually land-based thereby satisfying the conditions of DXCC Rule 8; Timor-Leste, 4W6AL, 2009 operation;
Afghanistan, T6AG, current operation.

The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 932 - excerpts
5H, TANZANIA
Harald, DL7VSN, is once again heading to Tanzania and will probably be active as
5H1HS, this time from the Kilimanjaro area, starting on November 1st. His length
of stay was not mentioned. Activity will be 160-10 meters using mainly CW and
RTTY. He will use various dipoles with 100 watts. If all plans go well, Harald
may activate his 5th IOTA group from this DXCC entity for one or two days.
Harald will also be in the Serengeti and Tarangire National Park starting
November 18th, and hopes to be active from these areas. QSL via his home
callsign.
9J, ZAMBIA
Niko, S53A, will once again be active as 9J3A from The Hippo Lodge,
(see http://www.hippolodge.com ), Kafue National Park, between November 25-30th. He also plans to be active during the CQWW DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Low-Power entry. His equipment will be a IC-7000, spiderbeam for the high bands (20-10m), 80m vertical, and a 40m 2 element wire delta loopa. QSL via S57S direct to: Aleksander Zagar, Golisce 132, SI-1281 SLOVENIA.
9V, SINGAPORE
James, 9V1JP, is a new operator from here and has been active on 20 meters. He
states on QRZ.com that he is "in a very challenging environment and is trying
hard to put out a decent signal on HF." He also states, "If you need a QSL card,
please be patient. I am in the process of designing them, and they should be
good and ready in the spring of 2010."
CARIBBEAN TOUR
Mike, DF8AN, will once again be active from the Caribbean. This time from two
DXCC entities. He should be on the air by the time you read this. His schedule
is as follows:
Netherlands Antilles (PJ4) - PJ4/DF8AN from the Island of Bonaire between
November 7-16th.
Activity will be mainly CW. He will be using wire antennas. QSL via DF8AN, by
the Bureay or direct.
E4, PALESTINE
There is a E4X callsign listed on (QRZ.com), but no other details are provided.

EL, LIBERIA
Chris, ZS6RI (aka-ZS8IR, ZD9IR, 5H9IR), is expected to be here for about six
weeks starting at the beginning of November. His callsign will be EL8RI.
Activity will be QRP on the HF bands (mentioned 40/20/30m) using CW, SSB and the
Digital modes. After his 6 week stay, he will return home and then return to
EL-land after 3 weeks. QSL EL8RI via ZS6RI.
HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Operators Kazik/DL2SBY, Tomi/HA4DX and Laci/HA0HW will once again operate from
Masessa between November 6-13th. Their main focus will be to do as many QSOs as
possible on the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands. They will have 3 radios (2 with
amplifiers). On 160m, they will use a 18m Spiderpole inverted L; on 80m an
inverted Vee and a loaded GP; and on 40m a GP on another 12m Spiderpole. For the
upper bands they will have a Spider beam on top of a 11m mast. Operations will
be mostly CW, but some SSB also expected. QSL by the Bureau to each appropriate
operator.
IOTA NEWS
NA-062. (Update/Reminder) Mark, KG8DP, will once again activate Grassey Key
between November 2-9th. Operations will be stationary at Grassey Key (on the
beach) and mobile as he travels to Key West and all points on the ocean. He will
use the callsigns KG8DP, KG8DP/M, NA8KD or NA8KD/m. This will be a week trip.
QSL all callsigns via info on QRZ.com (w/SASE). Mark will be using an IC-7000,
1.2 kw amp mobile and GLA-1000B portable amp. Antenna will be Tarheel M-100's.
SA-062. (Update) With the support of the Island Radio Expedition Foundation
(IREF), the Araucaria DX Group and the ForDX, a group of operators will be
activating Coroa Vermelha Island and Coroa Da Barra Island, including the
Lighthouse (ARLHS BRA-029), as PW6C between November 11-18th. Activity will be
on 80-10 meters, including 17 and 12 meters, using CW and SSB. The team members
are Leo/PP1CZ, Andre/PY0FF, Renner/PY7RP, Jim/PY7XC, Ciro/PY7ZY and Mike/K9AJ.
QSL via K9AJ. QSL is valid for the South American Lighthouses Award issued by

SA-071. (RARE IOTA) Operators Fred/PY2XB and Alex/PY2WAS will activate Cabras
Island between November 19-23rd. IOTA SA-071 continues to have a high demand
among IOTA program participants. They will use the callsign PW2IO (PY2XB) and
PW2TA (PY2WAS), operating two separate stations running 300w and 100w,
respectively. The antennas will be a yagi for 20/17/15m, and a multi-band ZEP.
The team guarantees that at least one station will be on the air around the
clock. Both stations will work CW and SSB. The main bands to be used are
40/30/20/ 17/15 meters on the IOTA frequencies.
J5, GUINEA-BISSAU
Joao, CT2GQA, will be here for the next five years. He will be using two
different callsigns (reason not given), but look for the following to be used:
J5GQZ - on 20/17 meters
J5JUA - on 80/40 meters
QSL both callsigns via his home callsign.
MARCONI NOBEL 100 AWARD (Correction/Update)
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Marconi receiving the Nobel Prize, listen
for and work 5 different special event "SI" stations (not 10 as first announced
-- DX stations work only 3 special "SI" stations) between November 9th and
December 10th and earn a special "Marconi Nobel 100 Award". The following
special anniversary callsigns will be on the air: SI0GM, SI1GM, SI2GM, SI3GM,
SI4GM, SI5GM, SI6GM and SI7GM. Other SM stations may be using the special prefix
SI, but only the above stations count. Each anniversary station counts once per
band. No endorsements. The fee is 50 SEK, 5 Euro or 5 USDs. Apply with log entry

OX, GREENLAND
Members of the Spanish "DX4DX Team" will be active as OX/EA7SB and OX/EA4NA from
the main island (NA-018) between November 1219th. Activity will be on 160-10
meters using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. The group will be using FT-857s

PW2, BRAZIL (Special Event)
Special event station PW2SIDC has been active (from several Brazilian states,
including Fernando de Noronha Island) since October 22nd and will be on the air
until November 22nd. Activity is in celebration of V DEFENCIL - V International
Conference of Civil Defense - to be held between November 17-20th, at Anhembi -
Meeting & Conventions of Sao Paulo City, with the participation of RENER -
National Emergency Network Amateur Radio. QSL via PS7YL, by the Bureau, eQSL or

VK9 C, L, M, N, W & X DELETED FROM DX EQUATION
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has decided to
discontinue the use of a VK9 callsign suffix letter to denote each of the six
Australian external territories, each a DX entity. The long-standing prefixes
included VK9C for Cocos (Keeling) Island, VK9L Lord Howe Island, VK9M Mellish
Reef, VK9N Norfolk Island, VK9W Willis Island and VK9X Christmas Island. For

VP2M, MONTSERRAT (Update)
Operators Tom/DL2RUM (as VP2MUM), Rudi/DM2XO (as VP2MXO) and 3D20CR op Jan/DJ8NK
(as VP2MNK) will operate from here between November 3-16th. Activity will be on
160-10 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via their home callsigns per the
QRZ.com address or by the Bureau.
VP8, FALKLAND ISLANDS (Update/Reminder)
Members of the CRAM and the Uruguay DX Group will be active from Port Stanley
between November 14-21st. They hope to start operations at their local sunset on
the 14th, starting on 40 meters, depending on transportation matters. The group
will sign VP8BUH on SSB and VP8BUG on CW/Digital modes. Their activity will
focus on the lower bands, Digital modes and the 30/17/12 meter bands. They plan
to have 3 stations on around the clock.
XR0, EASTER ISLAND (Update/Reminder)
By the time you read this, an international team of operators will be active as
XR0Y from Rapa Nui between now and November 15th. This will be a lite and small
DXpedition with 6 operators. Operators are: Marco/CE6TBN, Leszek/NI1L,
Aart/PA3C, Zbig/SP7HOV, Stan/SQ8X and Victoria/SV2KBS. Their priority will be
working Europe on 30 meters CW (since there is an incredibly high demand on
30m), and also 40 and 80m during the first 7 days of the DXpedition. This means
their focus will be on the European during the first half of their activity. The
second part of the DXpedition will be dedicated to all continents (especially
Africa and Asia [other than JA]). For more details, please see their Web page
