Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian Region was quiet to unsettled on 8th, 9th and 14th. Southern Australian Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted to 30 per cent enhanced on 8th, 10th and 14th; near predicted to 25 per cent enhanced on 9th and 12th; near predicted on 11th; and mostly near predicted on 13th. Night Spread F was reported at most stations on 11th. Forecast for 15th to 21st May. Solar activity should be low. Geomagnetic activity should see quiet to unsettled conditions. Frequencies should be near predicted monthly values. Hosted by members of the Algerian Radio Amateurs Association, ARA and the Djelfa Radio Club (7X2VFK), this one will be all bands and modes and there will be a special diploma instead of a standard QSL card. CS6, PORTUGAL (New CT Island) The Algarve STAR DX Team is planning to activate another new island in the southern part of Portugal on May 24th. They plan to use the callsign CS6A. It is a private island (Ilhas em Grandes Barragens - Large Dams Islands was mentioned) and this will be the first time the owner has authorized activity! Currently, there is a small problem to get to the island. A small bridge to the island is down and landing via boat is very very difficult. More details are forthcoming. VK9N, NORFOLK ISLANDS (OC-005) Members of the Hellenic Amateur Radio Association of Australia (HARAOA Group) will be active as VK9AAA between July 22-29th. The special prefixes are for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Look for Paul, VE9NC, to operate as XM9NC on digital and SSB modes on 20, 40 and 80 meters. If the weather cooperates, he will land in Niue on Saturday afternoon, May 16th - which is early Sunday UTC. He states that this 5 week DXpedition is not a "Holiday DXpedition" but it aims to give as many stations their first QSO with ZK2 as possible. This is the cyclone season, so operation may be interrupted by electrical storms.
